 HB 2553 RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT SECURITY               LAB, FIN

      Conforms state provisions to federal mandates so "Reed
      Act" Funds can be expended for the administration of the
      State's Unemployment Insurance program.

HB 2554  RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION             LAB, CPC

      Requires Special Compensation Fund contributions only
      when the 32 week requirement for a preexisting
      disability is met.

HB 2555  RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION SPECIAL COMPENSATION
      FUND EXPENSES                                 LAB, FIN

      Clarifies that administrative expenses for the
      protection and preservation of the Special Compensation
      Fund will be paid from the Fund.

HB 2556  RELATING TO SAFETY INSPECTION FREQUENCIES FOR REGULATED
      EQUIPMENT                                     LAB, FIN

      Allows the department to set inspection frequencies
      based on public safety need for boilers, elevators, and
      other regulated equipment.


 
HB 2557  RELATING TO OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH    LAB, JHA

      The purpose of this bill is NOT to prevent disclosure,
      but rather to facilitate disclosure of records to the
      public while still protecting the rights of individuals
      to privacy; ensuring that workers have safe and
      healthful workplaces and the mission of the division;
      and to preserve scarce state resources for protection of
      life and health.  Clarifies when and what records may be
      disclosed to the public for civil cases.

HB 2558  RELATING TO BOILER AND ELEVATOR LAW           LAB, JHA

      Clarifies when and what records may be disclosed to the
      public including the availability of compliance
      inspectors and investigatory records for civil cases.

HB 2559  RELATING TO THE HAWAII WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
      COUNCIL                                       LAB

      Allows the state department heads who are ex-officio
      voting members of the Council to name designees.

HB 2560  RELATING TO THE HOISTING MACHINE OPERATORS ADVISORY
      BOARD                                         LAB, FIN

      Specifies that the Board is administratively placed
      within DLIR.

HB 2561  RELATING TO CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORD CHECKS FOR USERS OF
      EXPLOSIVES                                    LAB, JHA

      Requires the department to obtain national criminal
      background checks prior to issuance of a Certificate of
      Fitness for users, dealers, and storers of explosives.

HB 2562  RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL            LAB

      Allows the county fire chief to name designees for
      certain functions and responsibilities.

HB 2563  RELATING TO THE STATE FIRE COUNCIL            LAB

      Allows the State Fire Council to coordinate statewide
      training, data collection, and contingency planning
      needs for firefighters.
